SKU tracking

SKU tracking software with a barcode for every piece

A SKU tells you what the product is. It does not tell you whether all of its boxes are on the pallet. Skuflo tracks both: the SKU on the order, and each physical piece that product ships as.

Skuflo is SKU tracking software for manufacturers that tracks at unit level: you set how many pieces each SKU ships as, every piece gets its own serialised barcode, and an order is only complete when every piece has been scanned.

From SKU to piece in four steps

  1. List your SKUsUpload one sheet in Settings under SKUs and pieces, with the number of pieces each SKU ships as.
  2. Receive an orderEach unit ordered is split into the pieces it ships as, so a three part product becomes three trackable pieces.
  3. Print one label per pieceEach piece gets its own Code 128 barcode and QR code, printed as a PDF or as ZPL for a thermal printer.
  4. Scan every piecePieces are scanned as made and again when loaded. The SKU is complete only when all its pieces are.

SKU level tracking versus piece level tracking

SKU level tracking counts quantities. Ten of a SKU were ordered, so ten are expected. That is fine when one SKU is one box. It breaks as soon as a product ships in parts, because "ten made" might mean ten bases and no headboards.

Piece level tracking, also called unit level tracking, gives every physical piece its own serialised barcode. Skuflo keeps the SKU as the thing a customer orders and the piece as the thing you track. You get both views from the same scans.

Multi piece SKUs and the pieces setting

A divan set might ship as a base in two parts plus a headboard. A sofa might ship as a frame, cushions and legs. In Skuflo you set the pieces for each SKU once, in Settings under SKUs and pieces, with a single sheet upload. From then on every order for that SKU creates the right pieces and the right labels.

  • SKU label printing is automatic: one label per piece, never one label per order.
  • Production lists count pieces as well as SKUs, so the floor knows the real workload.
  • Part made orders show which pieces are in and which are still to come.
  • Retailers can keep their own SKU list in their portal, so their codes match your orders.

Retailer SKU lists

Retailers rarely use the same codes you do. Every retailer on Skuflo gets a free portal with their own login, where they keep their own SKU list, place orders and upload order sheets. Orders come in against their SKUs and wait in a Review queue until you accept them, so mismatches are caught before anything is made.

Because each piece belongs to an order and a retailer from the start, pieces cannot drift onto the wrong customer’s load.

What Skuflo does not do

Skuflo tracks finished SKUs and their pieces. It is not a product information system, a bill of materials, or a barcode system for raw materials. It does not hold costs or run purchasing. It also does not sync with Shopify yet. A Shopify sync is planned, so today orders arrive by portal, spreadsheet, the API or your own team. See production tracking for what happens next.

Questions people ask

Is Skuflo SKU tracking software?

Yes, for finished goods. It tracks the SKU on each order and every physical piece that SKU ships as, using a barcode on each piece.

What is the difference between SKU tracking and piece tracking?

SKU tracking counts quantities of a product code. Piece tracking, or unit level tracking, counts each physical part with its own serialised barcode. Skuflo does both, so you know the SKU and the exact piece.

How do I tell Skuflo how many pieces a SKU has?

Upload one sheet in Settings under SKUs and pieces. Each SKU gets a number of pieces, and every order for it is split into that many labelled pieces.

Can retailers use their own SKU codes?

Yes. Each retailer has a free portal with their own SKU list, and can place orders or upload sheets against it. You review and accept before production.

How much does it cost?

From £249 a month for 1,000 pieces, with unlimited users and stations. You pay per piece tracked, not per seat. Prices exclude VAT and there is a 14 day free trial.
